Mathews Mutanya from Zambia won the men’s open category in the 42km in a time 02:16.53.60. Anna Amutoko won the women’s open category in a time of 02:53.45.31. Reinhold Thomas took second place in the men’s open category and is the 2018 National Champion. The Ipumbu Shiimi Christmas Tournament for the first time included athletics activities during the 2017 December holiday. In the picture Mr Ipumbu Shiimi is in action against amongst other the president of Athletics Namibia Mr Erwin Naimhwaka in the 60m dash.

Madeleine Kotze is the new Secretary General (SG) of Athletics Namibia (AN). Her appointment follows the Congress of AN on the 25 November 2017, which relieved Mr Immanuel Hamutenya as the SG.  In addition Mr Louis Cloete from Omaheke region has also been co-opted to the Council of Athletics Namibia as the Chairperson of the Coaching Committee.  AN welcomes the two officials and wishes them all the best in their new portfolios.
